  2. Create a new message
  3. Type – REG <Account Number>
  4. For example – REG 123456789 (Where 123456789 is your account number)

UPI (Unified Payment Interface) is a payment method introduced by Govt. of India to fast track the hassle of money transfers.

You can download any UPI app of your choice and create a UPI ID. Here is the step-by-step procedure –

  1. Download BHIM UPI app from Google Playstore
  2. Or download the best UPI apps in India of your choice
  3. Once downloaded open the UPI app
  4. Make sure you have your bank registered mobile number in that phone
  5. Choose your preferred language and click on next
  6. Choose Allow option for all permissions
  7. Now Select the SIM in which that number is present
  8. It will automatically send a message to verify your account
  9. Once verification is done you will be greeted with a message – “Mobile verified”
  10. Enter your desired 4-digit passcode (This code will be used next time to open the app)
  11. Select your Bank from the list
  12. After verification, you will be logged into your BHIM account
  13. Under “My Information” go to Bank account
  14. Create your UPI PIN
  15. There you will also find an option to Request Balance details
  16. Click on it and enter your UPI PIN and proceed to check balance.

This method is quite easy as you just need to dial a USSD number. This method requires you to have a UPI account.

Hence follow the above method first in order to create a UPI PIN.

Here is how USSD method works:

  1. Open dial pad on your mobile phone
  2. Dial this SBI USSD Code – *99#
  3. A popup will appear saying – “Welcome to *99#”
  4. Press Ok and wait for few seconds
  5. Another popup will appear with a bunch of options
  6. Type 3 to check the balance
  7. Enter your UPI PIN number and send
  8. Now a popup will show you the balance amount left in your SBI bank account.
