The Asia Cup is a men’s One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament. It is basically continental championship in the cricket world and the winning country becomes the champions of Asia. This match is held every two years by the ACC organization.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was founded in New Delhi, India, on 19 September in 1983 to promote and develop the sports relationship between Asian countries. This organization looks after all matters of Asia cup like supporting coaching, umpiring and sports medicine programs in member countries.

Starting from the beginning of the Asia cup in 1984, Tournament has attracted great interest among arch rivals of both countries; and played against one another in 14 events in the Asia Cup.

1984: India beat Pakistan by 54 runs
The first inaugural Asia cup was held at the Sharjah (UAE) Cricket Stadium, also known as (Rothman Asia Cup) where India won the inaugural Cup while Pakistan lost the matches.
India defends a total of 188 for 4 against Pakistan. Ravi Shastri and Roger Binny play an admirable role.
Their bowling helped India to win the match. Shastri returned 3 for 40, while Binny took 3 for 33.
But Surinder Khanna’s 56-run knock in 46 overs. On the other hand four of the Pakistan batters lost their wickets to run-out.
1988: India’s second Asia Cup win over Pakistan
The 1988 Asia Cup was the third Asia Cup tournament (also known as the Wills Asia Cup) and was held in Bangladesh Dhaka saw.
India Bowled first and out Pakistan for 142 runs, India won the match by 4 wickets.
It was India’s second Asia Cup.
Although India was losing his wickets from time to time, Mohinder Amarnath’s performance is noteworthy. He took 74 runs and kept them forward to success.
1995: Pakistan registers first Asia Cup
The match was held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium saw, where Pakistan played a ruling performance and in the result they registered their first-ever Asia Cup over India.
Pakistan Scored 266 runs for 9 because of Inzamam-ul-Haq and Wasim Akram. Both players were riding on fifties, as Imzamam-ul-Haq scored (88) and Wasim Akram (50 not out of 46).
Whereas in the starting India was tottering at 37 for 4, then Navjot Singh Sidhu and Sanjay Manjrekar tried to take over the match and scored 54 and 50 runs, respectively.
But Pakistan eventually bundled out India for 169. Finally, Pakistan won the Asia cup by a massive run gap of 97.
1997: India vs Pakistan Asia cup spoils by Rain
Tournament was played in Colombo but the match was eventually forced to be abandoned because of the heavy rain.
India were looking for authority by diminishing Pakistan to 30 for 5 out of 9 overs, on account of Venkatesh Prasad’s four-wicket pull (4 for 17), when rain started.
2000: Pakistan’s second Asia Cup victory
Pakistan and India arch rival’s teams were playing in Dhaka; Where Pakistan had defeated India by 44 runs for their second Asia Cup win over India.
Pakistan played batting first and scored 295 for 7, because of an unbeaten century from Mohammad Yousuf and the performance of Saeed Anwar and Moin Khan.
Anil Kumble also gave a noteworthy performance. He returned 3 for 43.
In the reply India were reduced to 75 for 4 from 68 for 1, As India was losing his wickets time to time and finally Pakistan eventually bundled out India for 251.
2004: Pakistan again become champion in Asia cup
In the 2004 edition of Asia Cup at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Pakistan continued to dominate India.
Pakistan Batting first, Shoaib Malik plays very well and starred for Pakistan with his 143-run over 127 balls in the innings .so, Pakistan 59-run won,
Whereas for India, Sachin Tendulkar scored 78 runs. Although he played very well he could not win the match for the side.
Pakistan scored 300 for 9 in the stipulated quota of 50 overs before stopping India at 241 for 8.
2008: India breaks the winning streak of Pakistan
India defeated Pakistan and won the Asia cup by 6 wickets. India broke the winning streak and got victory once again in 1988.
This victory was more special than all, because the match was played at Pakistan’s home soil in Karachi. Pakistan played batting first, Shoaib Malik’s 125 steering Pakistan to 299 for 4.
For India, Virender Sehwag’s flamboyant innings, scored 119. Sehwag played a noteworthy performance; he hit 12 fours and five sixes.
Suresh Raina 84-run knock off 69 balls. India hunted down the target of 300 runs in 42.1 overs.
Super 4s:
Pakistan bounced back to India and enlisted 8-wickets win in the Super 4s. MS Dhoni’s 76 and Rohit Sharma’s 58 directed India to 308 for 7 in Karachi
In reply, Younis Khan’s 123 not out and Misbah-ul-Haq’s 70 not out prepared for a simple win.
2010: India won by 3 wickets
In 2012 Pakistan vs India Asia cup tournament was held at Dambulla, this match was well remembered because of the Harbhajan Singh and Shoaib Akhtar clash.
Both players had some verbal exchange.
The cricket match started with Pakistan batting first. Salman Butt’s 74 took the side to 267 preceding they were bowled out.
In reply from India, Gautam Gambhir’s 83 and MS Dhoni’s knocks of 56 runs and, finally they got success and registered an Asia cup.
2012: India continue their dominance over Pakistan
This match was held at Mirpur. Virat Kohli plays an important role to beat Pakistan. He hit a fabulous 183 off 148 balls, a score that remains his best in ODIs to date.
He made 22 fours and one six to assist India with dominating the match by 6 wickets and 13 balls remaining.
Pakistan batting first in the beginning of the match, Pakistan scored 329 for 6 as Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed scored centuries but they could not meet the big target given by Kohli.
Eventually India registered one more Asia cup.
2014: Pakistan defeat India in close contest
The match was played at Mirpur. India batting first, Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu had posted half centuries and totally posted 245 for 8.
In the reply, Pakistan lost wickets in a bunch towards the end of the match but Shahid Afridi’s special crucial knock helped Pakistan to get success.
He scored 34 over 18 balls that included two consecutive sixes in the very last over.
Besides Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez had also played very well, he took 75 runs.
2016: India beat Pakistan once again by 5 wickets
India vs Pakistan Asia cup of T20 format was held at Mirpur.
Muhammad Ami out two openers Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane on their singular scores of zero each and afterward sent Suresh Raina back to the cabin to place.
In such situation India was tottering but Virat Kohli’s saved India at 49 off 51.
Eventually India won the match by 5 wicket while 27 balls was remaining.
2018: India rout Pakistan
In 2018 India and Pakistan were playing in the Asia cup in Dubai. Rohit Shama was leading his Indian team and made an easy success.
Pakistan took batting first, bundled out at 162 runs.
In reply from the India side, Rohit Sharma scored 52 and Shikhar scored 46.
They led the Indian team towards victory. So, eventually they registered one more Asia cup.
Super 4s match
Once again India defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets. Pakistan posted 237 for 7 as Jaspreet Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets each.
Pakistan could not perform well and later Pakistan was ridiculed for his ill performance.

Two groups will be formed like group A and B in Asia cup and each group will consist of three teams. Group winners and runners-up both will qualify for the Super Four stage. Qualifiers will again meet in round-robin format. Top two winning teams from the Super Four will qualify for the final Asia cup.
Qualifiers will be promoted toward the final of the Asia Cup 2022 that will be staged on September 11.
