Now the most popular payment method is UPI in India. UPI is now life line of every Indian users now days . UPI has eliminated carrying cash. You can go any where and simply pay via your mobile and you live hassle free.
India broke all the records of transactions all thanks to UPI.
UPI was launched in the month of April, 2016. Since then it’s growing rapidly.
There are a number of apps available in India that allow money transfer.
In this post, I am going to share some of the best money transfer apps in India.

As I mentioned, there are a lot of money transfer apps available in India.
But not all the apps are good enough.
Before making the list, I have used these apps myself.
Even I am using the money transfer apps that are listed below.
Here are the money transfer apps in India.
#1 G-Pay
No doubt, G-Pay is one of the most popular UPI apps in India.
It is owned by the Giant MNC company Google. Earlier it was known as Tez. Later they changed the name to G-Pay.
There is no wallet available in G-Pay. So you don’t need to do KYC verification.
In the initial days G-Pay used to provide a lot of cashback for transferring money.
Still the payment app offers scratch cards for transferring money.
Now other apps are also using scratch cards to attract customers.
Personally, G-Pay is my favourite payment app. It comes from the house of Google, so we can’t doubt its security.
You can send money to any bank account in India with G-Pay. You just need to know the recipient’s UPI ID or bank account details.
And of course you need to have enough balance in your bank account😜.
Apart from sending money you G-Pay allows you to recharge mobile & dth, pay electricity, broadband, gas, & water bill, etc.
According to Statista, G-Pay has a 46% market share in UPI app.
#2 PhonePe
PhonePe is also a popular UPI money transfer app in India.
PhonePe is owned by the Indian giant E-commerce platform, Flipkart.
In terms of transaction value PhonePe has the highest market share 46.9%.
There are over 350 million PhonePe registered users.
More than 15,700 outlets accept PhonePe as payment method.
You need to complete KYC in order to use the PhonePe wallet.
Along with instant money transfer, You can also use PhonePe for recharging mobile, dth, paying bills, booking hotels & flights, buying insurance, paying OTT subscription and so on.
PhonePe has 46% market share in UPI app.
#3 Paytm
Paytm needs no introduction, Paytm teaches us the meaning of Digital Payment in India.
The digital payment platform was founded in 2010. It was founded by Vijay Shekar Sharma.
Paytm was launched as a mobile and dth recharge app. They introduced the digital wallet service in the year 2014.
Later Paytm integrated UPI option to make payment. They have first time of payment bank who owns self license but due to recent RBI guideline paytm has to stop own UPI feature . Now they are using 4 bank upi servers to serve it’s own upi user base.
Now we can send money through both Paytm Wallet and UPI.
It’s one of the best money transfer apps with cashback.
To use the Paytm wallet, we need to do the KYC verification. But for UPI transfer, we don’t need to do KYC.
#4 Mobikwik
Founded in 2009, Mobikwik is a payment and digital wallet app.
Mobikwik was founded by Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku.
In the year 2012, they launched the digital wallet feature.
Similar to Paytm, Mobikwik also allows it’s users to send money through wallet and UPI.
Now Mobikwik has over 108 million users in India. And it has also 3.45 million partners.

#5 Freecharge
Freecharge was founded in 2010 by Kunal Shah and Sandeep Tandon. Initially it was a online recharge platform.
In 2017 Freecharge was acquired by Axis Bank.
Freecharge enabled UPI money transfer in the year 2018.
Freecharge allows users to recharge mobile & dth, pay bill, take loan, buy digital gold, etc.
#6 Amazon Pay
Amazon is the biggest e-commerce platform in the world.
In 2019 Amazon introduced Amazon Pay UPI to compete with UPI money transfer apps in India.
Amazon partnered with Axis to provide UPI.

Amazon offers cashback and rewards for using Amazon UPI. You will get the cashback in your Amazon Pay wallet not in your bank account.
#7 BHIM UPI
BHIM (Bharat Interface For Money) is owned by an government organisation called NPCI (National Payment Corporation Of India.)
BHIM was launched on 30th December 2016.
You don’t need to do KYC verification to use the BHIM app.
In the Play Store BHIM has over 5 crores installs.
#8 Airtel Thanks
If you are an Airtel user you might know that Airtel Thanks app has an option to send money people through UPI.
Airtel also offers a saving account. You can open and saving account online through Airtel. Of course you need to complete KYC to open a saving account.
You can send money, recharge, pay bill using the Airtel Thanks app.

#9 Pockets By ICICI
Pockets is payment app launched by ICICI Bank. Pocket is Money Transfer App which is very old app and powered by leading bank of India.
It doesn’t matter if you are a ICICI Bank customer or not, you can still use the Pockets app.
Pockets app come with a the bunch of exciting features including money transfer.
Once you register on the app, you will get a free virtual Visa Card. The can can be used for online shopping.
#10 WhatsApp UPI
Are you using WhatsApp? Sorry for the Joke😝.
I know you are using WhatsApp.
But do you know now you can send money on WhatsApp using UPI.
WhatsApp recently introduced money transfer feature using UPI.
You can send money using UPI ID and QR code on WhatsApp.
